ICSI stands for Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection. In this procedure a single sperm cell is isolated with a micro-pipette, immobilized and injected into a single egg (oocyte).  Fertilization occurs and the growing embryo is transferred back to the mother's uterus.  Before ICSI, patients with low sperm counts were unable achieve to pregnancy.  With this technology, thousands of healthy babies have been born.
